Right in time for Christmas! AWESOME!!!
November 2nd, 2006 at 3:49 pm
Amazon is very smart to do this over the holidays. Thanks for the email.
November 2nd, 2006 at 4:03 pm
Agreed - They are very smart. I’m sure many of us will be doing a lot of our shopping with them. RenePen is referring to our Hot Deal Alerts Email which we send on occasion. It’s free to join and we usually only send out 1 or 2 emails a month.

I got 3 MONTHS for free. Don’t know why but i did. Sweet deal.
November 2nd, 2006 at 4:22 pm
Where does it say how long you have it for free?
Thanks!
November 2nd, 2006 at 4:51 pm
Under “Your Account” then “Amazon Prime Membership”, you will see something that looks like this. If it says “DO NOT UPGRADE” instead of “UPGRADE Automatically”, you need to click the button to change it.

When I signed up it stated 3 months free. ??? Who else got that.
November 2nd, 2006 at 4:57 pm

I changed mine from auto to non, but I paid $79 last dec for Prime and used the crap out of it. I would argue that paying for it is a waste, however, in Dec last year David posted some deal with Bath sets that had a coupon and I order them for $4-$6 each after $5-off [I think] for each one with free shipping. Because I used the coupon about 30x, I saved more than the cost of the membership. I also received a couple extra coupons/gift certificates throughout the year.
All in all, not worth $79 unless you buy a lot of crap. And if you do, chances are you are always over $25.
I’ll sign up the wife and get 3 months, then think about it in Feb….

I got about 5 months ago this Amazon free trial of Amazon Primer Membership. I loved it, it was super easy to use and it was extreamly easy to cancel. I thought that they were going to make a big deal about ending the trial period but on the contraty, I just logged into my account, clicked “Do not renew” and that was it. If you can get it is a super sweet deal, and I would recomend it to anyone.
November 2nd, 2006 at 9:41 pm
Thanks, I got in. Enjoyed the last trial too. I only got the month trial though…darn.
November 2nd, 2006 at 10:25 pm
Hmm. When I go the page it wants to charge me $79. I got the ofer last time, can I not do it again?
November 3rd, 2006 at 3:44 am
I only got one month as well
November 3rd, 2006 at 8:18 am
They will confirm your credit card information but won’t charge your card. They do this because by default, they auto-renew the prime membership. But you can keep them from auto-renewing with the instructions above and it won’t cost you a dime.

egon, this happened to me as well. I just copied the link and opened in a new window and it seemed to work. If not try clearing cookies first. Good luck.

November 3rd, 2006 at 10:10 am
Ok, this blew up huge. They charged my card BAMM! I did find a new way for them to call me though. This was cool because it was IMMEDIATE. I mean like milliseconds. Use this link and talk to live person in 10 seconds.

Excellent Find Woody! I had to check my card to make sure they didn’t charge me - which they did NOT. Thank goodness. I would not have been happy.

Yeah, I was looking for that “confirmation” page, and nope, straight to “Thanks for paying up sucker!” LOL! I blinked and went into back the truck up mode. “What just happened? Gotta fix that like now, the wife will kill me, I already pay for Prime. Overlaping Prime = no sex for you [even on your B-day].”
November 3rd, 2006 at 2:06 pm
Yesterday, I went through the process, clicked “Continue,” and it immediately charged my card. So, I immediately clicked the “Cancel” link. I’m looking again, and I don’t see anything about a 30 day free trial.
November 3rd, 2006 at 2:12 pm
I can’t figure this one out either Dave. NoPayne and I had the same experience and I even asked the rep when I called, about a free trial and she acted like I was nuts. I know people are getting it, I used a new computer, cleared cookies, accepting cookies, created new account, what are we doing wrong?
November 3rd, 2006 at 3:20 pm
I don’t know what to tell you guys. I was able to get it w/out a problem. I’ll see if i can find a workaround somewhere. Here’s a screenshot that shows mine. The May 19th date is the last time I had Prime for free. I don’t even know why it shows that I’ve had prime the whole time because I haven’t…
November 3rd, 2006 at 3:43 pm
Add something to your cart and go to checkout… Go all the way to the last page BEFORE you confirm your order and somewhere in the middle of the page it said, try amazon prime… Click on it. If you just try to sign up for amazon prime on the main page it will say $79… it only showed up as free for me when I was on the checkout page ready to confirm the order.
Got 3 months last year and 1 month this time… Not sure why I only got one month but it’s better than nothing and since I love amazon prime, i’m happy!
November 3rd, 2006 at 5:25 pm
Thanks jj, i’ll try that.
November 3rd, 2006 at 5:35 pm
Let us know if it works NoPayne.

Just to let you know…Yes, I used it a lot when it was offered for free this year. When I went back this time, it said I could get TWO months free…I clicked, and now, for a few days, I get the message: “Your application for Amazon Prime membership has been received and is being processed. Your member benefits should be available in a few minutes.
”
It’s been days!
Just to let you know, if someone else gets two months, but then the wait message is there for days.

Well, I tried, twice. No free Amz. Prime. But, on both purchases, I got free shipping (battery tester w/coupon code, and order over $25). At some point, I will try again, making a purchase of less than $25, to see if I get the free Amz. Prime offer.
November 4th, 2006 at 4:20 pm
Ok, I tried a small order, for which a shipping fee would apply. On the purchase order review page page, there was green lettering offering the Amazon Prime program, but no free 30 day trial offer. I don’t know why I’m not getting the free trial offer.
November 4th, 2006 at 5:18 pm
Tried again and no go. Same as NoPayne.
November 6th, 2006 at 8:02 am
I got two months! On my account page, it reads: Trial membership dates: June 4, 2006 - January 6, 2007
The first trial was from June - August, and the second is from Today thru January.
You need $16 dollars credit available on your credit card. I tried to use a gift card, and Amazon tried to get a $16 authorization for three days, then sent me an e-mail. I changed the card and got my membership in minutes.
